This 5k was something special for a few reasons.
I had told a girlfriend I’d run her first 5k with her. We talked about it a lot and she had been training, really pushing herself and body. I was preparing to run or ride a race every weekend in Sept when I got the txt… “Would you do this one with me?” …thinking she would decide ( again 😉 not to sign up I said “Sure! You got this.” A day or two later.. the next txt “I did it! I signed up!” She was so excited and I enjoyed feeding off her first time excitment. It had been a while. I also ran into another friend that was running her first 5k as well. They both passed me during the last mile. That’s ok, I inspired one to run her first 5k and the other said she kept up well with my pace. I’ll take that as a win.
At some point over on IG, Monica and I realized we would be in the same place, at the same time, running the same race. … it happened.
You never know if meeting an online friend will work out in person, but this meeting felt natural like we had met many times before. We chatted before and after, she kicked ass running and as a person ! InstaBuddy. InstaConnection.
I did run it non-stop and felt good about my run. Got a hug from Paws and some great girlfriends !
